Pothos vine |
P O T H O S V I N E |
Pothos or taro vine is well-known as a house plant. However, the little house plant is just the juvenile form of a large climbing vine typically found in forest environments that are on the wet side of mesic. The vine (Epipremnum pinnatum} displays three different leaf forms: (1) the sharp-tipped green and mottled yellow or white juvenile form that is a desirable house plant because of its tolerance to shade and a wide variety of cultivars with different leaf patterns; (2) the more heart-shaped green and yellow form displayed here; and (3) an oblong, pinnately-divided all green mature form. Flowers are only produced on vines with the third leaf form, but the plant is easily propagated from cuttings. Photo credit: https://www.bobvila.com/ articles/pothos-plant-care/ |
