WHERE AM I?

Orange or brown QR Codes bring up information on the specific location where scanned and directions on where to go from there. Coming in from the parking lot and arriving at the piko (here), trails branch off in three directions: north (left, if coming into the park); Straight on (up the hill); and south (right). If this is your first time exploring the park, we recommend you proceed up the hill to the lookout (Kilohana or wahi nānā) for a spectacular view of Kawai Nui Marsh and the Kailua Ahupua‘a.

The trail north is the North Cross Trail that accesses the north side of the park. A short distance along this trail is a branch to the right. This Kua Trail leads to the base of the main pōhaku and the ki‘i mo'o (lizard image) where a stairway accesses the top-of-the-hill (Kilohana). The Kua Trail continues east along the ridge spine (kua) separating the north and south sides of the park.

Taking the trail south (to the right as you approach from the parking lot) accesses the south side of the ridge via the Upper South Side Trail to the Wahi Ua Ana or rain measuring place at the far end of the ridge.
